Sisters Song

October 15, 2010

I began writing this song the night my sister was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. This was the first time I was able to use my guitar (which I have been teaching myself to play) to write music. All I could think of was how much I loved my sister and how I wish I could just tell her that over and over. I played the basic melody and chorus for Cody Marks and she heard the line “We are cut from the same cloth, how lucky am I?”. With that guidance the rest of the song fell into place.

This is my first released original. It is for sale on iTunes and all proceeds will go to helping my sister pay her medical bills that the cancer caused her. I am so happy to report that my sister, Chris Elliott, is CANCER-FREE. She is a survivor and my hero. How lucky am I to know and love her. I thank God for her and her health daily!

You can find the single for sale at iTunes.com when you search for TATTOOED SONGBIRD :)

Tattoo: Right Arm Sleeve begins…

September 24, 2010

Clark North of Las Vegas, NV began my right arm tattoo this past August in Hollywood, CA at the Tattoo Hollywood Convention. I have thought of being “sleeved” for over 5 years now. The night Clark started the sleeve I told him “There’s no going back now.”… his wife added “Why do you think he started with the forearm.” LOL. I had an amazing time and didn’t even feel weird about being tattooed at a convention (a first for me). Clark’s work is impeccable, his technique is amazing, and he works super-fast without compromise.

I met Clark through Cary Hart at Hart and Huntington Tattoo in Las Vegas. Cary asked me to be on his TV show ”Inked” Season 1 on A&E. I think it was episode 2.  You can see the episode on the DVD “Best of Inked, Season 1″. Clark began work on  my back piece on the show covering up my ex-husband’s name and washing him away with waves. From there he went to work on the left-side of my back adding an amazing Clark North Dragon, clouds, a dragon-fly, flowers, kelp, etc. While being interviewed for the episode Clark listened to what I would tell the film crew and added the details into my back without me even knowing it. I told them how I loved Dragon-flys. I mentioned how I wished I could have skulls on my back even though it didn’t match the concept and Clark added two skulls at the bottom of the ocean. He even hid images in my clouds. Clark North is the REAL DEAL. An Artist with passion for his work and dedication to his craft. Clark has been tattooing for over 30 years… 20 of those full-time. That is a lot of hours under his belt, and it shows in his art.

Sturgis!

July 27, 2010

I am very excited to attend Sturgis in less than two weeks. This Motorcycle event is my most favorite of the year. Not only is this some of the most beautiful land I have ever seen, one of my best friends is being inducted into the Motorcycle Hall of Fame. Mondo is well-deserving of this honor and I am so excited to be there to share it with him. Mondo is the “Godfather of Choppers”. Check out his work at www.DenversChoppers.com

Cody Marks…

July 24, 2010

I have been performing with Cody Marks for two years now. She is one of the best musicians I have ever seen live. Her soul shines through her music and there is no doubt she is the REAL DEAL. She has been guiding me along my music endeavor, encouraging me, and watching over my song writing. Although she is my peer, she is my mentor. She was given to me by one of my best friends, and she has been the greatest gift. I thank God for her.

We are recording this week. I will post when I have the tracks ready.

Thy Will Be Done…

Thy Will Be Done

The Blacksmith Gallery put on an art show last night. Some of my favorite artists showed there, specifically, Paul Cox and Kirk Taylor. Phillip and I rode there and it was wonderful to meet up with friends and enjoy the night. The Blacksmith’s wife runs and owns The Perfect Circle Cupcakery out of the Orange circle and if I was not in the middle of a 10-day detox I would have been in cupcake heaven. The art was top of the line and I was so impressed with the variety and skill of the artists involved. The Blacksmiths shop was an excellent backdrop for the festivities. I even won a Weatherby Belt-Buckle and Hat in the raffle which made for a brilliant night!

Yoga

July 17, 2010

I began practicing Yoga in the year 2000. Rodney Yee was the first Yoga instructor I ever worked with (through VHS on my TV).  He continues to be my instructor of choice. Although I have been to great classes that have amazing instructors his voice, calmness, and strength is what I see Yoga to be. I first found him at www.gaiam.com but you can visit his website at www.yeeyoga.com. A decade later he still inspires me to push myself while remaining calm doing it.

Painted Lady…

July 16, 2010

I really am a Painted Lady! This painting by Maricela Avina, of Los Angeles,  is beautiful. She took 3 pictures from a Photo Shoot I did with Rick Hustead of Hustead Studios and tuned them into a painting. I got chills the first time I saw what she was doing. It expresses so much passion and she really captures my emotions. Maricela is one of my all-time favorite Artists.

Great Article…

This is an article from Rock Radio on the 100 years of Motorcycles Rally held in Spokane, Washington. I love that he compared my invite to the rally as being “invited to tea with the Queen”. Too cool!
